‘Olelo Public Television Series
In 2008, we launched "Integrated Health", a monthly television series focusing on integrative healthcare and the services available through our stakeholder members. The show currently airs every Thursday evening at 9 PM on Oceanic channel 52.
Symposiums
In 2006, we facilitated three symposiums: "The State of Integrative Healthcare in Hawai‘i"; "Research Related to Integrative Healthcare"; and the "Cost Effectiveness of Integrative Healthcare". These were designed for researchers, academics, practitioners, policy makers and decision makers. They were co-hosted by Queens Medical Center with an advisory committee consisting of representatives from Kaiser, Queens, ChiroPlan, Hawaii Society of Naturopathic Physicians, HMSA, Kokua Mau, and two members of the legislature.
Lectures
In 2006 and 2007, the Consortium co-sponsored a total of 11 public lectures on integrative healthcare. Topics included nutrition, energy medicine, mind/body medicine, the healing power of sound and music, and the naturopathic approach to health and healing. Distinguished lecturers included Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD; Joan Borysenko, PhD; Jeanne Achterberg, PhD; Terry Shintani, MD, MPH, JD; and Jim Oschman, PhD. Workshops A third approach to education over the last three years involved workshops. Some of these workshops utilized speakers from the above lecturers and some focused on training for local practitioners such as acupuncture for cancer patients. We offered a total of 8 of these workshops in 2006 and 2007.Education content
